FRIDAY (8/22): ALL PLAYERS PRACTICE OYO (OYO = Own Your Own) So something golf related Friday or over the weekend anywhere. Play, range, putt, chip, etc...
SATURDAY (8/23): 9:00am-11:45am GREEN & GOLD (PLAYERS should Meet @ BACK COMMONS - Wear Team Polo from last year and Skirt/Shorts (Old ladies bring extras for the newbies and bring your FAVORITE GOLF CLUB. Parents are welcome and usually sit in the stands for INTRODUCTIONS at 11:00pm. No Parent Meeting Scheduled.
A COUPLE of REMINDERS:
PRACTICES: Most COURSE DAYS (Playing the Course) will start at 3:10pm and end around 6:00pm. This depends on how early start. ARRIVING EARLY will help get you out AHEAD of the many other teams at the course and ahead of MATCHES. Most RANGE DAYS (Practicing at the Range) will start at 3:10pm and end much earlier around 4:30pm)
MATCHES: Matches typically consist of 6-8 players per team and start at 3:30pm and end a little after 6:00pm. If everyone is present by 3:10pm we will begin right away. Getting out ahead of other teams is VERY HELPFUL!
TOURNAMENTS: Tournaments typically consist of 5-6 players per team and usually start at 8:00am and end around 2-3pm (Depending on the number of golfers in the field.) A student will get an EXCUSED ABSENCE but is expected to PLAN AHEAD by contacting ALL TEACHERS and GETTING ASSIGNMENTS they will MISS.
Our sport is dictated by the WEATHER conditions so it is IMPORTANT that you are checking your CELL PHONE and/or THIS BLOG for updates. We will be using the sportsYou app for primary notifications but you should have Coach Tyler's & Coach Ratliff's cell numbers in your phone incase of an emergency or last second changes. Forward the texts to your PARENTS so they are in the loop. YOUR communication to your parents is CRITICAL. Updates will also be posted to the blog but the sportsYou app messages and TEXTs are the most immediate and accurate.
YOU must provide your OWN RIDE ARRANGEMENTS. Planning ahead and making carpool arrangements is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. You have been sent a text with everyone's CARPOOL ZONE as well as CELL NUMBERS of EVERYONE on the TEAM. Don't hesitate to contact any players directly. Part of being on a team is to being a good teammate so EVERYONE should do their best to help one another. Once you find car pool members, let us know and we will attempt to keep you in the same events to make things easier for you. If you've exhausted all options, then contact Coach Ratliff (JV) or Coach Tyler (VARSITY). Most importantly, don't wait until the last minute!!
BE PREPARED. In the unlikely event that a last-minute situation arises, having a duffle bag with a collared-shirt, pants, belt, and golf shoes along with your clubs packed and ready to go, may allow you an extra opportunity to play in an event.
Our SCHEDULE for the WEEK will be sent via sportsYou app and posted on the BLOG every SUNDAY afternoon (Usually around 1pm). If there is a problem, especially during MATCHES or TOURNAMENTS, contact Coach Ratliff (JV) or Coach Tyler (VARSITY) immediately! Texting us at 2:30pm the day of the event is UNEXCEPTABLE with the exception of an emergency!
MATCHES and TOURNAMENTS are already on our CALENDAR located at the BOTTOM of the BLOG. These are changed LIVE and the events are ACCURATE and UP TO DATE at ANY TIME for viewing. Plan ahead and check YOUR PERSONAL schedule (Doctor's Appointments, College Visits, Out-of-town events, etc...).
FINALLY, QUAIL CREEK GC has generously allowed everyone on our QUAIL ROSTER to play during the season and range for free. They request that you avoid playing solo and that there should be 3-4 of you for each tee time. You MUST call for a tee time and it is restricted to anytime on weekdays and after 12pm on weekends. If you want to ride in a cart, it is extra and will cost $10 for 9-holes and $20 for 18-holes. You must be 16 years old to drive a cart. Tee Times MUST be made in advance and arriving without a tee time expecting to play is a no-no.
